Wind Player Audition Materials 2024-25

Please note this audition will count for both bands and the orchestra if indicated on your application.

AUDITION VIDEO REGULATIONS:

• Students must play the entirety of the required audition material. Auditions that don’t contain all materials will not be considered. 
• Etudes must be recorded in one continuous take without any splicing. Students can combine their etude and scale videos into a single video, but should not edit the individual videos.

Auditions that violate any of the above statements will not be considered. 

ETUDE REQUIREMENT

• You will be using “Audition Solo 3C” please make sure you find the correct etude.  
• You will use all “A” endings for this audition.
• To access your etude, you will select your instrument from the drop down menu, scroll down to “3C” click on “Solo 3C” and print from there.   

SCALE REQUIREMENT

All students must play their scale in eighth notes, with a tempo of quarter note= 120. Students should slur the ascending portion, and articulate the descending portion. 

• Alto Sax/Bari Sax: Concert F Chromatic Scale - Two Octaves 
• French Horn: Concert Eb Chromatic Scale - Two Octaves
• All Other Instruments: Concert Bb Chromatic Scale - Two Octaves

• Audition Etude

Create three separate videos:

• Mallets
• Snare
• Timpani

AUDITIONING ON MULTIPLE INSTRUMENTS:

• Students wanting to be considered for specialty instruments: Piccolo, English Horn, Eb Clarinet, Soprano Saxophone, Piano or Flugelhorn need to submit both the audition etude and scale in a separate video link- but NOT a separate audition form/payment. 
• Students wanting to be considered on multiple instruments (for example, saxophone and clarinet) WILL need to submit two different applications, AND 2 separate payments. 
• Students interested in playing a challenging piano part must submit a video audition that includes two one-minute excerpts: one from a technically demanding piece of their choice and another from a slower, expressive piece. There will be an option to submit this video on the same form as your primary instrument audition.
